Arrived in Ireland!

We Arrived!! After a long day in Chicago and then a plane trip which arrived at 5:00am in Dublin (about the time most of them are going to bed!), we had a busy day getting settled in to a new culture.  Our airport bus dropped us in the heart of Belfast at rush hour and then some delays in getting our vans slowed down the day some more.
However, after all that, we stopped for "tea" at Dr. Keys' cousin's home to get a great taste of Irish hospitality. Tea included baps (buns) and meats, bagels, sausage yogurt and fruit, toast, doughnuts, and of course tea and coffee.
We then had our second cultural experience - shopping for food in a different culture's store. Since we do almost all of our own cooking in traditional Irish style, this meant giving student groups grocery lists and having them go on a hunt for all of the items on their list.
We finally made it to our first housing location in mid afternoon. After getting settled, some of the students went exploring down to the strand (beach) or into the little town which lies in the ocean edge.
Our family style supper introduced them to some basic Irish fare built around root veggies - potatos and beef in shepherds pie.
Now they have caught their second Wind and are off exploring before tomorrow's adventures.
